Courses

Aero-Smith Flight Center offers accelerated flight training under Part 61, from the Private Pilot Certificate right through to the Commercial, as well as additional certificates and ratings. Aero-Smith Flight Center also offers part time flight training for all certificates and ratings. The Chief Flight Instructor will customize a flight training program that will suit your availability and needs.

Aero-Smith Flight Center delivers professional pilot training, whether the certificate is a building step to becoming a professional pilot, or just the Private Pilot Certificate to enjoy the freedom of being in the air. We offer a great amount of flexibility to the client, to insure that your requirements are met, and you are happy with the flight training program that has been designed for you.

Requirements

Private Pilot Certificate

To become a Private Pilot, you must satisfy the following requirements for your application of flight training to be successful:

• Be at least 16 years old to fly solo (but must be at least 17 to hold a Private Pilot Certificate);
• Be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language;
• Have undergone at least 40 hours of flight training;
• Pass an FAA written exam;
• Pass an FAA flight check ride;
• Be the holder of at least a Class 3 medical certificate.

Commercial Pilot Certificate

To become a Commercial Pilot, you must satisfy the following requirements:

• Be the holder of a Private Pilot Certificate
• Be at least 18 years old;
• Be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language;
• Have undergone at least 250 total hours of flight training;
• Pass an FAA written exam;
• Pass an FAA flight check ride;
• Be the holder of at least a Class 2 medical certificate.

Certified Flight Instructor

To be a Certified Flight Instructor, you must satisfy the following requirements:

• Be the holder of a Commercial Pilot Certificate;
• Pass the two FAA written examinations;
• Complete at least 3 hours of flight training in 60 days preceding the check ride (work on a benchmark of 20 flight hours to complete this segment);
• Pass the FAA flight check ride.
